Girls Volleyball is in the middle of their season. They would love everyone to come to their senior night on October 17th, to celebrate all their seniors! They practice so hard and it is paying off. Kinnley Lingmann, Whitney Schmitt, Maddie Evans, Paisley Wallace, Talia Brown and Mariah Benson are all seniors on the team this year and answer questions about the team and this season. 

Q: How many girls are on the team and who are your coaches?

A: The team has 35 girls, and the head coach is Sara Kane. Sara Kane is a new coach to Alta this year but has coached for many years at other schools.

Q: Who are your captains?

A: Varsity captains are Talia Brown , Kinnley Lingmann , and Brooke Ridge.

Q: How many positions are there in volleyball and what do they do?

A: Pin Hitter-passes and hits the ball

   Setter-set up the ball for the hitters

   Libero-wears a different color and specializes in passing and defense 

   Middle blocker – front row player blocks and hits in the middle

Q: How many days a week do you practice and when are your games?

A: Our games are every Tuesday and Thursday. We practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Q: What are some goals your team has had for this year?

A: Some goals are getting to play at UVU for state, grow as a program, become a competitive and intense team. We also have academic goals as a program.

Q: How does your team prepare for a game? What are your team traditions?

A: We work so hard in practice every day to be ready for the game. Before our games we have team affirmations. We focus and get ready to get in the game. 

Q: What does your team enjoy doing together outside of practice?

A: Outside of practice our team loves to attend college volleyball matches and have team dinners. We recently were able to go to a Utah volleyball game as a team!

Q: How is volleyball rewarding, what makes you work so hard?

A: We all get to feel part of a team. It is so rewarding to set goals as an individual and as a team and watch as our team reaches those goals. 

Q: How has your team done in games this season?

A: As of right now we are 3 and 3 in the region and 8 and 8 overall 

Q: How do you expect the rest of your season to go?

A: We hope that we will continue to improve each and every day. We expect to move up as a team and have an awesome rest of the year!

The volleyball team has chemistry on and off the court. They love it and are having so much fun. They have had an astounding season and are looking forward to finishing it off strong.
