Each year Alta High hosts a Veterans day assembly that honors many who have served in the military and armed forces. These veterans have shown patriotism, willingness, and sacrifice for our country. It is our privilege to honor and remember those who have served our country and died for our freedoms.
Students at Alta invite veterans to come and be honored at the annual assembly. The veterans are recognized, followed by a few speakers and a performance by the Alta Ballroom Team. This year the ballroom team performed a special Lindy, just for the veterans.
Veterans Day, first called Armistice Day, was first celebrated in 1919, is still celebrated today. The assembly is filled with respect by the students and teachers here at Alta as both students and staff are encouraged to dress up. The presentation of the flag is done by the Alta Drill Team, along with Officer Ballard and Alta’s student government. This annual assembly means so much to Alta High and the veterans who attend.
