The Euphony is a magazine at Alta. It is a compilation of art and writing from students at Alta and gets published at the end of each year. Over one hundred students’ work gets published each year. The magazine is put into competitions and has won several gold medals in the Columbia University Competition. The Euphony has a staff full of students that helps get the magazine put together and published. There are several different categories that you can submit your work to throughout the year. This year so far, there have been Identity Pieces, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and horror.
Mrs. Defriez heads the magazine. She reads and looks at all of the entries. They look for excellent writing skills, thematic content, poetry that is relevant, and interesting and eye-catching art pieces. It is such a great opportunity for young writers and artists. “We have simply amazing artists and writers here at Alta,” says Mrs. Defriez. “The work of these students need to be put out there for others to see!”
There is a competition that is currently going on to decide the cover of this year’s Euphony Magazine. You can submit an art piece for the front and back cover, dimensions of 7.5 x 10 with the theme “Space”. The art that best fits the theme will be chosen as the cover for this year’s edition!
