The smell of chlorine jumbles with adrenaline at the pool. The Alta Swim team has been ruling the pool so far this season. With an impressive streak of victories since mid-October, they’ve showcased exceptional enthusiasm and skill.
Alta has an amazing team. On Saturday, December 10th, students Isaac Ridge, Josh Smith, Griffin Tasker and Evan Karajac beat the meet record in the boys’ 400 free relay by over eight and a half seconds.
In another remarkable moment, the boys’ 200 medley relay made up of Blake Abney, Josh Smith, Noah Stout and Griffin Tasker took the meet record by just over a second and was a second off of our own Alta record.
“Our team is really good, we even won the regional last year,” said senior swimmer Kate Johns, who has competed for Alta since her freshman year. “I don’t know what’s going to happen this season because we are competing with other schools that are really good too.”
At the meet on Thursday, December 14, swimmers warmed up and got prepared to compete and cheer for each other. The meet started and the Alta swimmers were awesome. From the beginning to the end there was screaming and support from everyone watching. In the presence of family, friends and former swimmers, CJ and Noemi stole the spotlight and really showed up and dropped time in all of their races.
While they’ve achieved much, the swim journey is far from over. Expectations are high and Alta Hawk’s support even higher. All the luck throughout the season!
