Hey Hawks our football team is off to a 3-3 start, with our last game resulting in a 31 to 10 win over the Highland Rams. Alta is looking to stay hot with a win against Olympus who are also 3-3 overall and are picked to be Region 6 champions. But more importantly, Alta is looking to get their first win at home!
“Having the guys buy into what they’re trying to do,” Coach Blake Burdette said on how his team plans on succeeding this season.
Coach Burdette definitely believes his team can succeed this season, but they are going to need to really going to have to “buy in” to what he wants to do. He’s very determined to develop his players on the field and off, but more importantly at the end of the day make them better men.
“The biggest thing is discipline and how to work as a team and to learn that life is tough, and learning the lessons of winning and losing, and how to get up after being knocked down.”
Quarterback Tucker Brown is determined to perform well this season and expects good games on the way from the “signal caller” of the Alta Hawks.
“Some games I do well some games I don’t. I’ve liked my performance in most games, but there is still lots of room to improve and get better,” Brown said.
Another Alta star, kicker Jack Mcallister, attributes his success to being a multi-sport athlete. “Because I play soccer, my leg has gotten stronger,” Mcallister said. His 52-yard field goal against East High is proof!
Under first year Coach Burdette, Alta is looking to have a dominant season this year. Attend the game this Friday at home against the Olympus Titans at 7 o’clock. Come ready to chalk out and cheer our Hawks to the win!
