The Euphony Magazine is the publication of art-work and literary pieces created by students across Alta High School. Students are able to submit their best pieces to the Euphony and student staff members help put the magazine together. The Euphony is great for giving students the right push to be published in something big and gives them a chance to be seen as aspiring young writers or artists. The staff members of the Euphony Magazine are very enthusiastic about other students’ work and being able to publish it for everyone to see.
“I think it helps other kids kind of meet each other because they’re like, oh, your story, and my story we’re on the same page,” says Sadie Bryan, the Art Editor of the magazine. “Like, they went together or this piece of art was really cool; I want to go meet that person.”
The Euphony Magazine really emphasizes on having a sense of unity within the staff members to fully create a well-developed magazine full of special and unique work to be shared with others.
“We put student writing and artwork together, which is really cool, and just great to see what people can do in a student body,” says Ariana Peterson, the editor of the magazine when asked about what makes the Euphony Magazine stand out.
Mrs. Defriez is the head of the Euphony Magazine and will no longer be teaching at Alta High School next year. However, she has had a wonderful experience being able to view all kinds of work that the students’ submit that showcase their creativity.
“It has been so much fun and I just really enjoy seeing how creative and talented the students are at the school,” states Mrs. Defriez. “Everything comes across my desk, and I get to enjoy it.”
Although Mrs. Defriez is unfortunately leaving, a new teacher named Mrs. Eastwood will be taking her place as head of the Euphony and seems to be a very experienced writer. This is a great opportunity to have a fresh mind and perspective on the magazine, with the students still being there to share their experiences with her.
“I am super excited because she’s very young and enthusiastic and she has a really good experience with creative writing,” Mrs. Defriez said when asked about her thoughts on Mrs. Eastwood. “I think she’s really looking forward to being able to work with the writers and having that extra thing because she’s going from teaching just English to creative writing and the two of them go together so well.”
The Euphony Magazine is a great way to showcase talented young writers and artists and with Mrs. Eastwood taking Mrs. Defriez’s position in the Euphony Magazine next year, it should be very interesting to see how it continues to progress and aspire students to publish their unique work.
