Good morning, Altamore! Every day’s like an open door (Hairspray)… to the theater department! 

Alta’s theater department is filled to the brim with many talented and ambitious individuals who give their time and effort into making phenomenal performances that are the highlight of Alta’s school year, but what do they have in store for next year? 

The Fall 2025 show for Alta High School is looking quite… intriguing. Students were given a set of clues to help them guess what musical they might do, and the responses varied. 

Clue No. 1: A man in overalls holding a guitar. 

“It being Hadestown is too obvious,” said Braden who has been doing theater since freshman year. He theorizes that the Gibson might be a lead to the original actress Deborah Gibson who was Belle in Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast. 

“She’s wanting us to think that it’s Hadestown,” said Aubrey who has been doing theater since middle school. “But we don’t have a Hades. I’m moving away from the idea that it’s Hadestown.” 

“It’s probably School of Rock,” said Becca says who has been doing theater since the age of thirteen. 

Clue No. 2: A chapel or a church. 

It’s a “lead up to Beauty and the Beast,” said Braden, as he continues on his initial prediction. It has an “old time-y French feel,” he observes. Aubrey had a different reaction. 

“It made me tilt toward the idea of it being the Sound of Music,” she says. “She’s a nun in the beginning. But that’s also blunt. Knowing them [the department], it would probably be something so in depth that we would have probably never thought about it.”

Becca’s first reaction was “Jesus Christ Superstar?”
