Alta has some awesome traditions that keep on going! Our homecoming festivities are absolutely amazing and they’re a great way to show some support for homecoming! Last week on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the main events were the homecoming carnival, parade, and the Burning of the A. Homecoming week was a blast with so many different activities!
Homecoming Parade
The homecoming parade was on the track and field oval at the stadium. The parade celebrated the Alta students, clubs, organizations, and announced the homecoming royalty. Students crowded in the bleachers, cheering for their classmates and friends, grabbing the flying candy in the air. Some of the groups include but aren’t limited to the soccer team, golf, drill, and the homecoming royalties.
Homecoming Carnival
Right after the parade, students gathered for the homecoming carnival on the soccer field. The air was filled with the smell of fun treats like popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. There was also face paint and a photo shoot backdrop that students lined up across the field to see. Students walked around the field, getting their face painted, taking photos, and playing all the different games that were there. Some popular games there were High Striker, Ring Toss, and Spikeball.
Fire works and Burning the A
As it got dark, students began heading to the stadium to see the Burning A and the fireworks. The A was in the corner of the field, where everyone could see it. Students buzzed with excitement about the A and the fireworks. As the stadium got dark and the music started playing, students and teachers pulled out their phones, ready to record. Shortly after the A got lit, fireworks were being set off, brightening the sky with many colors. The Burning of the A tradition was a symbolic gesture to all of the years Alta has done this. The fireworks and the Burning A were an amazing way to end the night!
