Utah has a new crisis center since July 28th for teens and kids struggling with mental health issues. The new 24/7 crisis center, Youth Crisis Care Program, is for any student, (5-18). The center offers in person help for mental health emergencies with no appointment needed.
The center is for mental health emergencies including, suicide, anxiety, stress, paranoia, aggression, emotional breakdowns and other short term emergencies caused by mental health. This center is not for medical emergencies or long term therapy as this is only short term. Since this is short term, you can only stay at the facility for 23 hours or less.

According to Axios, in 2023, they measured the amount of people feeling sad and hopeless. The data showed that 37% of high school students in Utah agreed with that statement. This means that more than ⅓ of students feel sad. This data isn’t stating that all of those students have thought about suicide but it does show how much people feel miserable more than they usually should. This center will hopefully help people who feel down, and decrease the percentage of students that feel unhappy with their lives in the upcoming years.
While talking to one of my teachers about this topic she didn’t even know about this center! We need to reach out to the Utah community to help spread the word about the new mental health crisis center so we can help our peers that are in need of this type of help.
