Varsity girls soccer just ended with an unfortunate loss in the second round against last year’s State champs, Olympus. Even though they have beat Olympus before, this year (2-1) they did not kick it off enough to get the win. Alta just seems to have a streak of getting cut off at the second round (2024-2019). That’s 6-7 times! Despite the loss, Alta has had a great season with region ending (6-6) with Mackenzie Hyer -head coach- who has been coaching for around 20 years. This was the last high school game ever for 13 of the girls on the team. I hope those seniors had the best season yet! A student at Alta High was interviewed, he said. ” I love watching the games and how physical and fun it is to watch. I have also enjoyed watching the JV and frosh teams play,” he said. It’s shocking that some of the players that have played varsity are sophomores and even a freshman has played a game. This team has been really great this year and can hope to have a good season next year and throughout the next few years to come.
