Artemis II, a project by nasa to achieve an orbit around the moon then return to earth for the first time in 50 years, is set to launch later today. The launch will be from Kennedy space center in florida. The launch is scheduled for today (Wednesday, April 1st of 2026) at 6.24 p.m with a crew of four astronauts, three Americans and one Canadian, who will go on an estimated 10 day trip around the moon and back home to earth.
This will be an amazing experience for the astronauts, and for us who are watching. This will be a somewhat memorial experience as the last time we ventured to our dear moon was in 1972. While our astronauts will not be landing on the moon, they will still get to see it up close, and they will be able to see earth from a distance, a monumental experience no doubt.
Lets all hope that the weather down in florida stays nice and clear for the launch, and lets wish our astronauts a safe and smooth ride around the moon!
