It’s no secret that senior Beth Sutherland likes long hair. She hasn’t had a haircut since she was a freshman.
Fast forward three years, and Beth’s hair is well below her waist and growing heavier by the day, so she did something bold; she cut it off. “I was ready for a change,” she said. “I haven’t had it cut since freshman year. I was very regretful then, but this time I really like the shorter hair.”
If she’s honest with herself, Beth prefers long hair because it’s “prettier.”
However, she does like her “short” hair too. “Short hair is easier to take care of,” she said. “I enjoy the feeling of it getting cut and having a change once in a while. I like it.”
Before she cut her luscious locks, her hair was 26 inches long from the shoulder to way below her waist. The length of Beth’s hair right now is the shortest it has been in a long time, “My hair has always been long even in elementary school, so this is different.”
Beth has a nice souvenir from her three years without a haircut. She is donating her hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit charity that provides custom wigs for people who need them.
This is the second time Beth has grown her hair out and cut it. She plans on doing it again in the future.
