With spring creeping up, it’s getting time to start lacrosse! After a devastating loss to o

Olympus in the semi-finals, the Hawks are motivated and ready to get their revenge. When senior mason egan was asked about the loss he said this ¨we were off, but this year is different, the Hawks will shock some people this year.¨

Alta ended last season with an impressive 15-4 record. The Hawks dominated the competition by going 12-0 within their region, this led to a deep playoff run. Alta went into the playoffs hot, coming off a 5 game winning streak. Although the streak didn’t end there, the Hawks went on to beat spanish fork 19-5 in the first round of the playoffs. Carrying that momentum to the next week, The hawks beat skyline 11-8 in the second round of the playoffs, sending them to the semi final game. In this game the Hawks played the undefeated Olympus titans, ultimately ending in a loss.

As heartbreaking of a loss that was, it fueled the Hawks. When asked about the expectations about this upcoming season, Berkeley Horoba said ¨we´re stopping for nothing short of the trophy.¨ Berkley is committed to a very highly ranked D1 lacrosse heavy college, The Towson Tigers. The Tigers are home to 8 CAA championships and with the addition of the Hawks top player, hopefully 9 is not too far out.

With the Team fired up and motivated, the Alta student body is very excited to see what happens this season. When asked about the high expectations of getting to the semi finals again, senior Casey Blackham said ¨I think those expectations are low, that’s not the game we are thinking about.¨ From talking to some of the key players, it is obvious that the Hawks are set on winning the whole thing this year.
