Alta Boys Volleyball Exited for Upcoming Season
With the 2023 volleyball season just beginning and the Alta Boys Volleyball teams are hopeful for much success.
Boys volleyball will be a sanctioned sport next year, so the fun and size of the program will grow.
Junior Will Fournier has been playing volleyball for over three years! He’s is confident that they will be able to compete at a high level. “I’m confident all of our hard work will pay off.”
Alta is carrying seventeen players across the varsity an JV teams and also have many upper class talents including seniors Mathew Sly, Caleb White, Joao Agostinho. The boys are looking to come out and compete with other big schools.
Sophomore, Kaleb Puikkonen is also looking forward to putting together a solid team and hopefully competing to win region.
In the upcoming season, the Hawks are scheduled to go up against teams like Timpview, Olympus, and Jordan.
The boys have been practicing in the Corner Canyon gym for over six hours a week in preparation for the season. Puikkonen is very optimistic. ¨We should be able to compete pretty well with just about anyone,” he said. “I am very confident that we can put together a really competitive team.¨
Puikkonen is exited about volleyball becoming sanctioned.¨ I am very happy volleyball is a sanctioned sport and we are finally getting recognition from the school, and hopefully we can get some of our classmates to come and cheer us on.¨
This is a huge deal for volleyball as the team will get more support from the school and their classmates. Will is also very exited about volleyball becoming a sanctioned sport and said he thinks “The volleyball team will be a lot even more competitive now that is sanctioned.”
