Scheduled Workshops Include:

Animation – Turn magazine photos into hilarious animated stories. Learn how to turn magazine photos into hilarious animated stories with animator and story artist Chad Erekson.
Combat For Film and Stage – Learn the techniques for safe and cool fights for Film and stage. This class will be hands on and highly interactive.
Digital Special Effects with After Effects – Workshop on using Adobe’s After Effects for digital special effects for filmmaking.
Documentary Film Production – Explore cinéma vérité documentary film production techniques with Tyler Smith.
Fashion & Cosplay Headpieces – Create a one-of-a-kind Fashion/ Costume/Cosplay Headpiece.
Fashion Design/Draping – Explore the art of fashion draping and learn industry techniques to transform a plain piece of cloth into an inspired sculptural design with your own draped project on a dress form.
Jimmy Jib Filmmaking – Learn to use a “Jimmy-Jib” crane to get amazing film shots.
Let’s Sing! – Learn the proper technique behind singing in 3 styles, and then put it to good use as you perform for one another!
Photograms – Learn to create stunning images in the darkroom without using a camera.
TV Studio Production – Bring a TV show to life in the Center for Arts & Media’s state-of-the-art TV broadcast studio.
You Can Create Anything – In this fun workshop students will learn the creative process and techniques such as the Newton Method (Adopt, Adapt, Create), Artistic Environment, and Design Thinking. Participants will leave with firm ideas for their next artistic creation.

The School of Arts, Communication and Media at Salt Lake Community College is hosting a high school workshop November 5th.

Registration opens October 5th for numerous workshops with everything from painting and photography to digital media. There is “something for everyone,” according to SLCC. Go to the following website to register: https://www.slcc.edu/arts-comm/workshops.aspx

Janet Jefferson, school work based learning coordinator, the workshops are hands-on, so students learn by completing a project led by SLCC faculty. “It is a great opportunity to explore a future career path, ” she said.

Participating students will take a bus to the Salt Lake Community College, so early registration will insure students can claim a spot.

Freshman Raigen Bright is excited for the animation class. Animation will be one of the more anticipated activities, especially for the students in Video Production class.

When asked what she was most excited for, Anna Black replied, “The fashion and cosplay. It’s going to be awesome!”
