As the new year comes it celebrates the United States 250th anniversary. In honor of that, President Trump wants to host the 2026 Patriot Games. The patriot games are a 4 day athletic event that takes the best high school athletes, (man and woman) from each state and territory.

As some people read this story it really reminds them of the books and movies, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins which is a dystopian book that shows kids being televised killing each other. Trump responds to these messages by stating that it will be led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy.

Trump has already started the plans for where it will be held and when. He said it will be held in July, the month of our day of independence. Trump has also started building  a triumphal arch in Washington D.C to commemorate the 250 university and where the Patriot games might take place around. 

Facing more of the student side, high school students, the best male and female athlete in each state will be asked and chosen for each state to participate in the patriot games. Trump also stated that the men will not play women’s sports. We have so many athletic students at Alta High and it would be fascinating to see which two students from our state get to participate in the games.
