ALTA HIGH SCHOOL
Freshman Orientation 2026
Last week, Alta welcomed 500 incoming freshmen to see what our school has to offer with many stands, pamphlets, math problems, and even a live hawk! We were curious to see what intrigued these 8th graders the most about Alta High School’s culture and classes, so we interviewed a dozen of the class of 2030 to see what extracurriculars, classes, and clubs were the most popular, and what trends or patterns materialized.

Our first guinea pig was an Eighth grader from Indian Hills Middle School, named James Okerlund.
(Interview #1)
Question 1, “What class are you most excited for?”
“Probably soccer, if that’s a class.”
Question 2, “Have any tables or clubs struck your interest tonight?”
There’s a big selection, so I don’t know which one to pick yet-there were a few that caught my eye, I think I’ll definitely join E-sports, and me and my friends are going to start a bowling club.”
Question 3, “What part of student life are you excited for?”
“All the friends I will make through the e-sports program!”
Question 4, “What part of high school are you nervous for?”
“I am not excited for the workloads I’ll have to do.”
The following interviews showed a trend in popular classes and clubs, including Foods, Spanish, Soccer, Football, and Volleyball.
The next interview was from another incoming freshman, Truman Offret
