If you like books and want an enjoyable way to meet other people with the same interests, come to Book Club! The Book Club, run by Ms. Scott, typically meets on the second Wednesday of every month, and there are always some tasty treats to share. “It’s a really fun, inclusive environment where you get to talk about awesome books with your friends,” Jessica Brower, a Book Club member, says.
If you’re worrying that Book Club isn’t for you, don’t fear, Book Club reads a variety of different genres and styles of books, so there is something for everyone. “It’s just been so much fun to be able to connect students with really great books…and to get to see what they’re reading and what they’re interested in,” Ms. Scott comments.
The books they have already read this year are The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera, The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand, and Spells For Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch. Anyone who goes to Book Club consistently gets a free, personal copy of the next meeting’s book to read.
In total, every year Book Club reads and discusses 7-8 books together. The books they read last year were: Scythe by Neal Shusterman, One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus, Words on Fire by Jennifer A. Nielsen, and more.
The Book Club’s next meeting will be on March 13th at 2:30. For more information on how to join, talk to Ms. Scott in the Library. We hope to see you there!
